"It is said that the origin of slipper firstly appeared in Japan in the beginning of Meiji era (1868-1912), which was the time Japan was opening its country to the world and having more people visited from outside, especially from Western countries. However, those visitors of course walked straight into the houses or hotel rooms without taking their shoes off. Japanese people worried that the floor would eventually get dirty and the tatami would be damaged. The Slipper was devised to deal with those problems and to welcome people who came from different cultural background.

Ever since then, the slipper has become common in daily use all over Japan. Here, we will introduce slippers made with the spirit of Japanese hospitality.

We believe slipper can be a bridge to peace (= “Heiwa”)".

UP-CYCLED SLIPPERS

These slippers are handwoven from recycled scraps of cotton fabric discarded by a knitting factory. These slippers are elastic. We would recommend these slippers for when you want to relax, or make yourself comfortable.

.

TATAMI SLIPPERS

These slippers are tailored with Japanese Hiroshima denim. The tatami part is made using real Igusa (a plant used to make tatami) grown in Japan. Furthermore, we use the tip of the ear, which is the most precious and high quality part of the Igusa. These give the slipper a natural antibacterial quality that smells great, and is a higher quality product with a finer mesh and more beautiful to the touch than ordinary traditional and genuine Japanese tatami.
